Seventeen-year-old Kiva Meridan has spent the last ten years fighting for survival in the notorious death prison, Zalindov, working as the prison healer. Outside of the prison, a rebellion is waging, and when the Rebel Queen is captured, Kiva is tasked with keeping her alive long enough to undergo the Trial by Ordeal. When a coded message from Kiva’s family arrives, containing a single order: “Don’t let her die. We are coming.”, Kiva risks her own life to volunteer in the Rebel Queen's place. If she succeeds, both she and the queen will be granted their freedom. But no one has ever survived.

The way this thrilling fantasy story was told was gripping, and the plot twists were just one of the bests I’ve ever seen. I also loved the way that while most fantasy stories take place in castles or schools, this one took place in a deadly prison. I recommend this magical book to everyone. You have no idea what you're missing.
